Games thread!

Same. It's almost always there to shoehorn in a reason to have one (1) female character to no-homo Our Hero, because all of the actual character and relationship development is between the male characters (if there's any character/relationship development at all). She could be replaced by a lamp, for all the actual relationship Our Hero has with her. At this point I'm not even mad, I'm just bored.

Douglas Fairbanks Sr would make a great Bond.

I can agree with this, anon! It just doesn't mesh with the media when it's shoehorned in like that.

Lol can't wait for the Jacob Elordi fancasts to prove you wrong

(Anonymous) 2024-03-21 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
This is true to an extent, but it's mostly because a lot of people came up with fancasts 5 years ago, 10 years ago, 15 years ago and haven't changed their opinions on that. If someone was old enough to play Bond 15 years ago, they're too old to play him now.

But I also see plenty of fancasts for Bond specifically that actually are in a perfectly fine age range. EG, Henry Golding and Rege-Jean Page. You can't tell me 36, 37 years old is too old for the role. The guy they allegedly cast or were gonna cast or whatever is 34.

Don't make me cry, OP... I loved N'Sync so much... sigh.
And Justin was my least favourite of the bunch lol

I know his brother's been "canceled," but hear me out: Junius Booth.

(Anonymous) 2024-03-21 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Justin is far better at acting than music, in my opinion

(Anonymous) 2024-03-21 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
That would have been interesting.

I mostly agree but there's also non-romance movies out there that do managed to do a love-subplot well. They're not the majority mind you, but I am always so pleasantly surprised when they crop up because it shows it can be done well, just a lot of writers don't bother because man+woman=romance even if the set-up is flimsy.

It's not a huge bother for me at the same time, just a bit dull?

(Anonymous) 2024-03-21 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
It's funny you say that because I find it's the opposite: romances that are written as a smaller side part of a larger story tend to be, IMO, much better written than romances that are the focus of a story. I can't stand the romance genre for this very reason.

Yup. As someone who eats up romance, shoe-horned romances can fuck off. Unless the point of the shoehorn is to mock how bad it is.
