Isn't the whole point of a do-over that you get a chance to avoid the stuff you wouldn't want to have to go through? Like, your do-over would be specifically to prevent yourself from having to go through the Superwholock Horrors in the first place.

I mean, it's not the best reason for potentially shattering the space-time continuum... but all things considered, I can think of worse ones.

In a lot of ways, modern video games feel less sexist to me than modern novels. Not because they're particularly trying to avoid sexism, but because there's no time for bigotry when men and women are both killing zombies.

Women still get stupid outfits though.

I feel like "novels" and "video games" are both too broad as categories at this point to make these kinds of judgments about.

"Novels" cover a lot of ground! Talking about the treatment of women in "novels" can mean almost anything. And the same is true of video games.
