it's not a creative choice, it's a marketing choice. if people don't know exactly what your light novel is going to be about from the title, they're simply not going to choose yours out of the 10000000000 available. and if people never pick it up, you're never going to reach the popularity needed to get your novel translated into languages other than japanese anyway.

unfortunately, "english speaking readers in foreign countries" is simply not these authors' primary demographic.

You mean less than glowing praise, something constructive, or just story bashing? Some people absolutely do go around pointing out things the author could do to improve upon (such as SPaG issues). Not sure I really understand this secret.
