With the increase in people saying Reddit stories are fake or creative writing exercises, I wonder when we'll see fanfic of popular subreddits.

Games thread!

It's just not true to say that the 90s were an objectively better time in fandom for literally everyone.

That's how I know a British-set fic is written by an American. Everything is TEA AND SCONES TEA AND SCONES TEA TEA TEA AND SCONES like that's the only thing people eat over there. It's kind of funny, tbh.

This is a weird take. Just because they're twins (with a maybe-real-maybe-metaphorical psychic link) they're still both adults with their own lives. And... it's been years since I actually played this, but I'm pretty sure it was heavily implied Alyson knew something was up with them already and seemed fine with it? This feels like a reach.

Tbh, I am so out of touch with television these days, and wouldn't even know where to begin. I guess there's falling back on existing long-running soap operas, but I haven't kept up with those either.

It's all right

'cause I'm saved by the B.S.

As someone who thoroughly enjoyed what time I got to have in fandom during that decade, I agree.

Smile

What things have made you smile recently?

I've got COVID at the moment. And my cat is being a total sweetheart. She keeps climbing up on top of me, I think she's trying to heal me. She always makes me smile.

I also really enjoyed Dr. Mike's most recent Youtube video about Onion fake medical inventions. Was really funny.

Maybe people genuinely like him? IDK.

Valid complaint. Where I would speculate it comes from is that most Americans' only experience with Regency is Jane Austen. So, "I want to set my fic in Austen" without any of the research, let alone shits given that Austen's works were set in a time 50-70 years before Sherlock Holmes time, which is also a lot of Americans' only understanding of Victorian.

or steampunk, but fuck steampunk, ugh.

I was in fandom during that era (thought I was mostly a preteen/teen), and I liked CERTAIN THINGS about that fandom era, but I mostly prefer early 2000s Livejournal fandom to newsgroups and forums of the 90s.
