I assume you mean Sanji's pervert gag and while I completely agree that it's annoying and needs to die, I wouldn't say it's out of character. It's very much in character, sadly (but it really really needs to die, ugh. Or at least get toned down to regular chivalry towards women.)

Same, honestly. I get wanting to give the Bad Guy Nation the Bad Guy Opinions. And I love Zuko angst. But this one dosen’t really track and simplifies some decent world building in the process.

I remember getting to the end of the series (the original end? I think there were more books much later.) The cat who was suspicious of the vampire started acting completely different, and I was like “wait, did he just get enthralled?” I was never 100% sure if that was the intended reading.

Do you... not understand what working on a TV show means? Of course the actors are going to say 'it's the best' regardless of whether it is because it's part of their job. They're literally not allowed to talk candidly about it until their contracts are up, and sometimes not even then.
