Three of my fandoms over the years were overtaken by fans of a new adaptation. It’s never a good a thing. I’m a firm believer that the adaptation fans belong in their own space, not the space for the source material. If someone is a fan of both that’s fine but leave the adaptation stuff out of the preexisting fan spaces. Sadly it never happens that way and either the adaptation fans overrun all the fan spaces or the source material fans are total assholes who spend years punching down on the new adaptation and its fans.

I could have written this secret; the amount of times I've enjoyed a piece of media, then discovered the fandom and apparently liked the "wrong" characters or had the "wrong" headcanons and got paranoid because of it, is too numerous to count.

I, too, am very glad I got my books (just this past week, actually!) without advertising covers. Got them used/ex-library, and they're very nice.
I HATE it when books get adapted and all you see is the movie/tv art or photos on the covers, blech.

I'm really enjoying my re-read, but I *am* going to watch the show. I am so looking forward to the fact that they actually MADE 'Sanctuary Moon' footage, omg.

Still not sold on Skarsgård being the Murderbot. We shall see.

Do we care? Are we caring? Organized religion needs to just fade away and die; less 'recruits and converts' is a good thing, in my opinion.
