God. Was in court today. The government attorney was trying to end a bunch of cases to put those people in "expedited removal." That is a special type of thing that used to only apply to people who had been here before and already had court and were told to leave. It means no judge unless you express fear of return. Now they are claiming it applies to anyone who met up with the government within two years of coming into the country.

The law does not support that. But the fight will take a while, and meanwhile a lot of people who have been here for decades and have families and should get due process won't get it.

What was the last thing you did for yourself, or the last way you stood up for yourself?


Just managed to say no today for something that I really couldn't have handled, but I'm not good at saying no unless it is about someone else. So I'm proud of myself for managing to do it.

I was never the biggest fan of Livejournal but I feel you so much on this. Somehow I was juggling school and cool fanworks but nowadays I can barely keep a job and scribble on the side. I had a brain event that took away my knack for writing too, can't do creative writing with the same ease as before, can't project feelings on characters. If it's fanfic with a pre-established world and characters I can do it (but it's not as natural as it used to be) but yeah, it hits... not as good. Can't say it's a lack of time issue either, just executive dysfunction and maybe chronic depression and brain damage really. The minds prioritizes survival and everything else gets shoved under the bus.

It saddens me to revisit old fansites on Wayback Machine because I can tell it's not just my enthusiasm that was taken away by hustle culture. It's mine, yours and a lot of other folks' too.

Ooh, thanks for the rec! (My favorite is "D'yer Mak'er," but I can catch that on classic rock radio stations, so it's not the deepest cut by any means.)

A few years ago I dug up my old LJ password because I wanted to save all my journal entries in case the site suddenly disappeared or I lost the ability to log in. Aside from fanfic, most of my entries were personal journals that were locked private to me only. I was shocked to read how bitter, insecure and unhappy the person who wrote those seemed. Was I really so miserable? Then again, I've always used journaling to vent negative emotions, especially petty shit. I think the problem was at that time, I had moved to a new city & state and had no community or pastime apart from lurking around online communities. Now I have real friends and "touch grass" regularly.

Like the Secret OP, I was happy to see that my old fics were better than I remembered. Fluffy as all hell, which is the part that makes me cringe now, but otherwise nothing to be ashamed of!

I bought myself some new earbuds! Not really had to stand up for myself in anything unless you can't being an asshole back to people in video game voice chats, lol.

I am worn down and depressed and a shell of a person. I think me of 20 years ago was a lot more mentally unstable (depression, anxiety, ADHD mix that I hadn't found coping strategies for yet) but I was oddly a lot happier. Oddly because I was pretty suicidal back then.

On the plus, I am way more confident and comfortable with myself these days. I've done some things that would shock younger me (a good imoressed kind of shocked).

...Obviously, I feel differently and adore the songs The Simpsons have produced. Admittedly, these are from the classic era as I don't watch much of the newer ones to remember.

I know xxxHolic was revived after the original series ended, but I remember it didn't get very far before CLAMP... put it on hiatus again? Are you saying it's been recently announced it's coming back? In which case, god, I would kill for a conclusion, too.

But man, both xxxHolic and Tsubasa really burned me from CLAMP and I felt a lot of their newer stuff haven't been as good. I do like CCS: Clear Card, but I might just be biased, CCS is my favorite anime/manga.

But color me curious regardless.
