I really loved SyFy’s FaceOff for the same reason. The contestants seemed like they were frequently helping each other out, instead of always tearing each other apart.

I don’t agree that it’s ageism when you’re talking about a professional athlete who is long past their peak. But MLS is a joke and Guzman really only stands out because he’s spent his whole career in a league that is mainly former high school stars and some geriatric footballers who go there for an easy few extra million that coincidentally sets them up nicely for a chance at citizenship in a country with low taxes.

I notice this too. Liking trans AU stories and art of a character who is not trans in canon, and headcanoning a character as trans and implicitly questioning other people's interpretation of this character as cis in canon are very different things but people love to use those phrases interchangeably for some reason.

Idgi. Like, people are free to headcanon whatever they want, but it feels like at least half the time, headcanon isn't what they mean to say, and they just like a particular flavor of AU. Trans is only a common example here

Are you a massive fan of something, but only partially? Meaning that maybe one or more books/seasons out of a series are your all-time favorites, but you couldn't care less about the rest? I'm a huge fan of the first season of Hannibal and rewatch it regularly, but completely ignore the other two (on the first round I quit watching in the middle of the second season).

I think it could look nice if it was styled better, but instead it's really flat on top yet also not curly enough at the bottom? They did her dirty with the hair honestly and if the hair+make-up department wasn't going to try they should have gone with something else.

Politics. She was sorta-Libertarian-ish, but in a way that was nearly indistinguishable from a Republican. (This was way before Trump, BTW.) When it came to LBGTQ she was a "hate the sin, love the sinner" kind of person and thought that was okay. IMO, it's not. She didn't even have the excuse of being particularly religious, she just thought that being gay was wrong but it was magnanimous of her to overlook how icky people were. On top of all that, her husband was even worse (not just on a political level, but on a personal level) re: racism and just being a sexist douchebag and her excuses for his behavior wore me down.

I guess I never officially severed the connection, though I did tell her I'd never agree to be in the same room with her husband ever again. We drifted apart, because how can you get past that? She was determined to stay married, and be conservative on social issues, and I was not interested in that, or hearing about how her husband "wasn't that bad really" when he absolutely was. We just drifted apart and now we're Facebook acquaintances.

Had an abusive friend years ago, they were emotionally manipulative and self-absorbed to a truly hellish degree to the point where they made me feel like I was the bad friend for 'not trying hard enough' to be better to them, while I was on constant eggshells trying not to make the angry that day for whatever reason they came up with, spoiler: it was impossible for me to not do anything 'wrong'.

It took meeting a new friend and confiding a bit in them what my other friend was like for me to see that they were the problem and I went full no contact within a week. Deleted their number, blocked them on everything I could and since this was like 2009 this was very easy to do. I haven't seen them since then and I'm so happy for it.

Yeah, I hate the drama too.

I really watch that type of competition show to see people show off their skills. That’s only enhanced by the competitors being professional and respectful towards each other.
