If a setting is fantasy or at least fantastical in some way, aliens/robots/etc I can accept any form of 'these people don't have refractory periods' but if something is set in the real world then I can't turn off the disbelief for that. It's weird lmao.

This is more for fic as that's where I see this most often, but it does crop up sometimes in canon stuff.
