Same. I moved close to the border years ago specifically so that if I needed to I could make a run for it but hoping that things would never get that bad. I keep seeing people saying we're "overreacting" to kids in cages, defunding the FDA, a fucking military parade like we're goddamned North Korea, kids working the overnight shift in meat factories, radioactive roads, etc etc. It's so goddamned tiring to see this happening and knowing where they want it to go and everyone around you just pretending that it's normal(ish). "Oh, we survived Covid, we'll survive this." Plenty of "us" didn't survive covid, you dicks, and a lot of "us" won't survive this either. It's so enraging but I don't even have the energy to rage about it anymore.

Seriously. And we're always told it won't be that bad, we won't lose our insurance, etc. But you just know, given how he's talked, he's going to decide blue states get no funding for Medicaid and such--whether we're disabled or not. But we will, once again, be told we're overreacting.

I just got diagnosed with autism in January. I deliberately went to a private clinic and paid out of pocket so that no one other than them had any record of it. And then saw the news that RFK wanted to make a list of all the autistics (which would include my nephew who is disabled by autism). And I looked around, and was thinking to myself... you guys see where this is going, right? You see this, right? You paid attention in history class and have pattern recognition, right??

I'm trying to make plans to include my nephew in that run, but he's half the country away.

I live close to Canada, but I can't help but feel like I'll be turned away at the border. After all, I won't ~contribute~ to anything.

Ugh, the news that's coming out of Canada with their fucked up version of assisted suicide is madness. I'm incredibly fortunate that (if we can get in) Canada would just be a way station. My wife has two other citizenships besides the US and is working on a third.

Fuck Canada, man.

Canada is still better than here. I have no citizenship elsewhere. I have no choices. It sucks.

NA-yeah, back when he was still running for prez, RFK Jr talked about wanting to force people with ADHD off their meds and into work camps, oh wait, "wellness" farms, because nothing says "efficient workforce" like people with scatterbrain disease and no farm/agricultural work forced to go cold turkey off their meds.

Within the last week I saw someone in the administration talking up that the detention centers aren't hellholes because they have... drumroll please... showers. I stared at the wall for a bit after that, because if that was sincere, then the people running this shitshow are even more ignorant of history than I thought, and if it was malicious, how long until the soap is blocks of soapstone?

I hope this whole shit circus falls apart before it can do more damage, but that's extremely unlikely, so I hope you can get out.

Alligator Auschwitz. That's coming sooner rather than later.

Reminds me when republicans wanted to make having a refrigerator a disqualifying criteria for aid because if you have a refrigerator then you "obviously aren't poor".
