At Thanksgiving and Christmas, I lie and say that I've watched movies and shows that I haven't because I hate the way my cousin tries to convince me that I absolutely have to see them. I think I bullshit my way through the conversation pretty well, but it does make me feel like a coward.

I'm really looking forward to Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.

(Although I can understand where the Snyderbros are coming from on being salty that canon didn't go the way they wanted it to, they've been so awful about Superman that I'm hoping the Supergirl movie is both very popular and pisses them off even more.)

Taylor Swift comes across as a petty mean girl to me. There's literally the song "Mean," written because a music critic dared to have an opinion about her. There's the way she won't let go of the Kim/Kanye feud, to the point of capitalizing KIM in a song title on an album in 2024. (Even though Kanye was the one who was really vile, she seems angrier at Kim - or perhaps she is afraid of poking the bear that is Kanye West?) There's the huge overreaction to Charli XCX, who wrote a song that referenced Taylor but was more about Charli's own insecurities. There's the way she put her music on streaming the day Katy Perry was releasing a new album. The petty, childish, mean girl tactics come across as very high school, teenage to me, and that's not flattering behavior from an adult.

I love Gowron's arc throughout Star Trek. We see him first in TNG as an idealistic outside, appalled by the insider corruption of the high council, and we see him rise as a bold new leader, sometimes inexperienced and outflanked, through being an experienced politician, becoming a true leader of his people, then his fall as the paranoia of power and the stress of war takes its toll, and finally his death as tragedy when he can no longer control his hubris by the end of DS9.

It is a complete character arc. It is brilliant. It makes me want a Star Trek:Klingons show, but focused on the Klingon politics.

I love to listen to stereotypical Vietnam-era rock music, and pretend I am a Space Marine, dropping from a Space Chopper onto Space Vietnam, and firing my Space Gun against the Space Trees.

I'm not dense enough IRL to be racist, glorify military, want to join, or ever support wars of invasion. I'm well aware real-life Vietnam was an utter hell for absolutely anyone that amounted for a painful chapter of history, and I am adamant in preferring to only enjoy fictional wars.

I just like pretending I am part of those fictional wars, and I haven't gotten to play TTRPGs that scratch that itch. Reason I'm addicted to Helldivers right now.

A friend in college was obsessed with the Mortal Instruments books and begged me to read them. She let me borrow her copy of the series. I read detailed summaries of each book to discuss with her because I hated them so much. 😭

And of course, if anyone claps back, they're a big meanie and misogynist because obviously Taylor was saying things vague enough that it couldn't possibly be about *that person* for sure! Except the way I hear it, she's very big on symbolism and definitely means to say things. Except when it can't be spun to make her look good.
