8. Don't ever expect critiques from ff.net. You can find occasional gems on there but LJ and forum sites are better for that. And don't wait for people to critique you--tell them you want it. Some are scared of leaving detailed reviews because they don't know how the writer would react to getting it fast n' hard.

I can't tell you the path to fame, because I don't have it either. But you certainly don't get it by being meek and shy. You got to get out there, make yourself known, you know?
