Because of the epic fail of an SPN J2 BB fic with a similar premise. This (http://amazonziti.livejournal.com/52274.html?format=light) is a good round up of that whole explosion. When people in the SPN fandom that were also in to the Pinto fandom saw that a Pinto fic with Haiti as the backdrop had been out before all that mess and wasn't called out on there was a bit more of an uproar and so the author deleted the fic. From my understanding and what I heard about the fic though is that it wasn't anywhere near the levels of fail as the J2 fic.
