Reading your comments here, it doesn't seem like any of these possibilities have even occurred to you. It's not always their choice, and even when it is it's often his choice as well. Lots of couples plan a family together that later break up. Are you saying that she should be the only one at fault there? Really?

I was specifically not talking about the cases where people plan a family together; but break up. Those are generally kids who have been recognized by they father, and once done so, he should be kept to that responsibility. I was talking about cases where a women gets accidentally pregnant, and just assumes that the man she had sex with welcomes fatherhood.

But i do find it too easy to blame men on being disadvantaged career-wise, while there is a clear biological distinction and there are women out there who do actively choose to work part-time or even be stay-at-home moms.

If pregnancy results from rape, then clearly the man should be punished...but do you truly wish to be dependent of alimony from your rapist? Having to - even in minimal form- deal with him every month?

Lack of sex education is a problem, but not just for girls, but also for boys.
It's an issue that should be tackled at school, before pregnancy, and not patched-up after sex education has failed by punishing either of the potential parents financially.

As for men being jerks - yes that happens, but how exactly should one work anti-jerk sentiments into laws? And how do you distinguish fromthose who were very clear about their wishes?
