Regardless of whether I (or anyone else) agrees with the cables thing, we should all remember something: the fact that he has pissed off lots of governments off doesn't mean the accusations aren't true. And this is regardless of whether you consider the "pissing off governments" part of that statement a good or bad thing. You can consider him a hero or a villain and still believe the rape charges.

IIRC, these accusations aren't new. The women reported what he did to the authorities and he got away with an extremely low penalty (if I'm not mistaken, he just paid a fine).

The only thing that saddens me is the fact that it was necessary for him to become controversial and piss people off to be actually faced with the rapes. It's unfortunate that otherwise he'd have gotten away with a ridiculously low penalty.
