The problem wasn't that the Chinese criminals were criminals in a show about investigating criminals, nor that with three episodes they didn't get around to showing perfectly normal Chinese people (it's like complaining that the gay guy turned out to a bad guy).

When people complain about the second episode, it's more about the other stereotypes that I don't recall since it's been a while. Someone said something about ~spouting proverbial wisdom while demurely pouring tea~, and I think that's pretty close to the actual problem.
