I would normally think "why not just say it?" but I've seen a lot of literature PhD candidates, and they're pretty darned snooty. ;) But I think you should just tell them, anyway. What the hell, they might have heard of it, too!

I only read the first book and it wasn't my thing but hey, I know at least two people in postgraduate programs who fangirl that series.
