I agree with you. The second episode wasn't as good as the first and third episodes, but I still thought it was good entertainment too. But nobody can win within this fandom. If you made the bad guys French, the socially/politically fans would have been pissed, because the English always vilify the French, (God knows those two nations have had a tempestuous history). More developed female characters would be seen as Mary Sues and would take time away from the two main characters and the canon fans would be pissed...and on and on the "fail" would go. In the end I am watching a show based on two characters that I love from a series of stories about two men named John Watson and Sherlock Holmes. If I want political/social correctness I'll watch another show.
P.S. They should have made the bad guys Canadian, because we wouldn't have given a shit about stereotypes, we would've just been happy to be mentioned.
