I'm not really in the HP fandom so I'm pretty surprised that Neville/Hermione is a rare pair. They seem to be good friends (which can easily be interpreted as lovers). At least, I remember them spend a lot of time together in the earlier books.

And I agree, there are too many pairings in HP fandom. I ship almost everything.
