but I loved 9 pretty quickly so I think it's okay to assume I'm just not loving the characterization.

Eh, that's fine. I mean, I liked 9 too, even if it didn't really kick in for me until the end of The Doctor Dances, and only then did he become as close a favorite as 11 is to me.
