15. Having a tablet or producing digital art doesn't make you a better artist. Unfortunately, digital art generally 'looks' better online. Now, I've seen some amazing art done by friends of mine who use Copics as well as watercolours. Also ... art style aside you have to produce something people want. I think that's the crucial area as far as art is concerned. I've seen beautiful pieces completely overlooked because it wasn't something in demand by the masses. I've always drawn for myself and drawn what I want when I want it -- I did manage to garner a good deal of fans over the years, but since I've more or less abandoned what fandom gave that to me, I've noticed the only people who stick around -- regardless of the fact that my art is better these days -- are the ones who actually appreciated the art from an artistic standpoint.
If you can produce amazing traditional art I'm usually impressed. I know the techniques digital artists use and while digital is an artform in itself, I know how it's done and it just doesn't seem that impressive -- the final piece is of course but the technique not so much.
