I read all the HP books, but was never really involved in the fandom/shipping (read: I'm not a bitter Remus/Sirius fan), but I remember being SO ANNOYED by Tonks' character in OOTP. From the first introduction of 'She can change her hair color at will :D' I couldn't see her as anything other than a Mary Sue. Like, if she was a fanfic character, the author would be bashed mercilessly.
