I've always liked her, partially because there aren't a lot of female characters like that. There's a lot of male cops in police procedurals like this, though. I sometimes get annoyed at the way Rhys is written inconsistently - one second worried about Gwen, then excited about aliens, then, "bloody Torchwood!" then proud, then "that was the most terrible time of our lives!" Can you see Jason Bourne's girlfriend or Jack Ryan's wife from the Tom Clancy series spending that much time griping? And I do like Rhys, but he has to see that Gwen's a different, happier person when she has a purpose.
