Yeah, I agree. Her not remembering is kind of grating on my nerves and the way he's not talking is... it's gone from plot device to a bit weird. I feel like something big should have happened by now, but it's going off into historical tangent details (maybe it's better based on a full read, I always like to save up pages for a while).

And the kissing thing, TOTALLY BUGGED ME. Especially with how contagious the possible things Alan could have are. Kiss her goodbye and possibly infect her? WHAT A ROMANTIC.
