You know, I never really shipped it much until I ran into that compilation of slash-y moments between them. And even then not so much, until (in the middle of that) I ran into that scene in which Cap marries fem!Tony in another universe. (I guess seeing it actually being canon in some universe made me actually see it as more of an actual possibility? IDK.)

That said... Hang on, op. I think everyone is in a fandom in which they don't ship the most popular pairing at least once. Maybe there's a gem comm? Or, in a fic comm, a 'gen' tag? I hope you do get your gen fic, we all need some of that once in a while.
