If I ever found out that the bullies who made my life hell back in school were leading horrible lives, I'd feel pretty happy about it too. Karma.

And also, maybe I just friend the TMI kind of people, but I pretty much find out a lot about people's lives, family, rants, what's going wrong with them the moment I friend their journal. It doesn't seem like a lot of people bother with filters beyond the default flock. I can see how if you friended someone over an RP, it'd be easy to find out what was going on in their lives.
