Sure, but that's not what the anon I replied to was saying. S/he said it was idiotic to purchase a box set of books you had never read before full stop. I have bought new sets of books I've never read before, and I don't think that makes me an idiot.

I like hardback books, and I like uniform-looking books when I can get them, so I'd rather just buy the set at the get-go than buy a single book and later buy a box set containing that same book or buy the whole set separately. If I'm spending my money on things I like, I don't think it's anyone's business to judge what I purchase.
