1. A lot of us have "triggers" like that, I lose interest if my favorite character gets killed or written out of the show. If your main interest is a ship then it's perfectly understandable to lose interest if the potential isn't there anymore.

There was this episode where they had a fight and when they reconciled [dressed as pink flamingos] there was this song by Lifehouse "You and Me" playing, *omg* I couldn't believe it, there they were, Daniel Jackson and James T. Kirk [or at least the actors who played them] two halves of two of the slashiest pairings on Sci-Fi giving loving looks at each other with one of the most romantic songs playing.
