PANFANDOM REC MEME

"I ship it!"
"I want fic!"
"I want art!"
"I don't care what it is, but I want it!"
"Where's the fandom?"

Rec meme! You ask for recs, and others provide (or fill!).

Maybe there's something you'd really like to see but you can't find it. Why not ask for help? It might be out there! Or maybe there's something you really loved reading and you want someone to geek over it with. Why not rec it to someone else? Maybe they'll love it too! Who knows, someone out there might be looking for something that sounds exactly like someone you know just created.

Don't feel bad about reccing your own stuff, either. Apparently someone else wants to see it, right?

OBLIGATORY TEXTBOX (optional, dont worry):

Regular post will be up soon!

Aha, I'm horribly biased in favour of the first character mentioned, but I really don't think the third character (or any of the others, for that matter) are as flat as people make them out to be. That third character came in late, but I still think she had a personality and was also a throwback to Eoleo being the creepy quiet kid who thinks/acts way older than their age, but that's just me. owo

YES oh god I love Nowell and I have so many conspiracy theories about how she may have inherited the powers of a certain other relative of hers, because when the game itself makes no mention of her being a healer and calls her an archaeologist first and a scholar second, you know this is going to be good.

Fandom: Final Fantasy X
Preferred Medium: fic
Characters/Pairings: Anything with Braska, Auron and Jecht, especially on their pilgramage. Adventures, shippy or anything inbetween.

In which Simon hits Karl Urban upside the head with a clue by four. Since I find it impossible to ship Simon with anyone, I kind of adore this story.

[identity profile] yui-hime.livejournal.com 2011-12-11 05:35 pm (UTC)(link)
See, it would be nice if we could have SEEN her personality. Instead, it seemed like her only involvement in the plot was having visions.

the game itself makes no mention of [Nowell] being a healer and calls her an archaeologist first and a scholar second, you know this is going to be good.

TBH, I homed in on her "GET YOUR HANDS THE HELL OFF OF MY BROTHER" attitude towards and think she's going to be a frickin' sweet warrior-type Adept. But I'd be fine with a combat caster. AS LONG AS SHE KEEPS THAT ATTITUDE. "Boy-crazy tsundere" is about the farthest thing possible from how the rest of that family behaves, and I'd love to see her keep working that attitude.

Fandom: Bond Franchise (Goldeneye)
Preferred Medium: Anything at all.
Preferred Genre: Dealer's choice -- I just want something.
Characters/Pairings: James and Alec.
Anything else? The chemistry between those two is AMAZING, and I could really use more.
For the record, I have indeed taken a look through the 006/007 community here on LJ. The more beyond that the merrier, right?

Fandom: Bond Franchise (Casino Royale)
Preferred Medium: Fic, please and thanks.
Preferred Genre: Angst.
Characters/Pairings: James and Vesper.
Anything else? Details? These two break my heart in the best of ways, and I would love to see the direct fallout right after her death. I want to see James' armor ripped to shreds then put back on, because UNF.
But really, I'm completely okay with anything that plays with these two.

I didn't realize how much I needed this until now.

The Kingmaker, Kingbreaker books by Karen Miller feature a pair of friends: a prince, and a fisherman's son from an ethnic group of second-class citizens, who he appoints as his assistant/advisor after being impressed with his gut and insight.

Legend of Zelda - WCIF NAYRUUUUUUUU

[identity profile] yui-hime.livejournal.com 2011-12-11 05:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Fandom: The Legend of Zelda: Oracle games
Preferred Medium: Any
Preferred Genre: No horror or guro, everything else welcome! (including, say, adventure or drama with horror/gore elements)
Characters/Pairings: In all honesty, I'm good with anything. Link is probably a given. For preferences, I really like Ralph. Link/Ralph would make my life, provided it's in-character. I also like Rosa, Subrosia in general, and that island where the Tokay live in Ages (hate the minigames, love the place).
Anything else? Details? I know there's an official manga series and I really should look into getting it.

Thank you so much :) I just love these two so much.

I have been out of this fandom for so long and now that I'm back into it aksdlhglksdh I need my fix, damn it. And I don't know where to get it anymore. .-.

Fandom: Kingdom Hearts
Preferred Medium: Fiiiiic.
Preferred Genre: Don't care. I like AUs (very very much if they're done well; yes, even high school AUs and the like). I like canon fic. I like anything good. If you've got it, throw it at me.
Characters/Pairings: I'm a big fan of Sora, Riku, and Roxas as characters especially but I like pretty much everybody. Pairing-wise I primarily ship Sora/Riku, Riku/Roxas, and Axel/Roxas but again, not picky.
Anything else? Details? I prefer longer fics or at least authors with multiple short fics.

OH and sorry if this is too generic. I'm just having a really hard time wading through all the crap/old stuff/stuff I've already read in this fandom to find good new stuff.

Fandom: FFVII
Preferred Medium: Fanfiction
Preferred Genre: Romance I guess? Could be anything.
Characters/Pairings: Zack/Cloud
Anything else? Details? I ship Zack/Cloud pretty bad but I've never seen it done well. Does anybody have any fic of them that isn't ridiculously sappy and OOC with actual good characterization and development? Old stuff is okay.

I agree! But I think all of these books are great stories foremost, and the way they each incorporate and handle disabilities is to their credit. Spellwright is the most disability focussed but I believe in a good, interesting way - it affects his life, how he thinks of himself and how others think of him, and it's the reason people around him are suddenly getting murdered, so it rather warrants focus! And tbh I think it might be the only book I've read with a (basically) dyslexic main character or even someone who is magical but not in the "normal" way, so for me at least it didn't feel at all like it was rehashing the same old tropes. Plus I have to say I think the magic system in Spellwright is so original and fascinating, it's brilliant. I haven't seen many people around talking about it (not that I've looked particularly hard :P ) but I think it's definitely worth a look.

The Demon's Lexicon and ASOIAF both have ensemble casts and shifting viewpoints, so the disability stuff is much less a major plot point and more another element to deal with in some rather complex and adventurous lives. All of these books have a lot of plot and action! I hope you enjoy :)

I'm no longer in this fandom and I can't always vouch for my younger self's tastes, but back in day I really enjoyed [livejournal.com profile] askerian's fics. I also recall liking Avoiding the Issue (http://sadieko.livejournal.com/71905.html) by [livejournal.com profile] sadieko, and her other stuff as well.

I'm reading through some of karanguni's fics, and they're great! (I love Gandor family fics, plus she's written for other fandoms I enjoy. Thanks so much!)

But your first link appears to have been broken

Ohhhh I can't resist reccing my own fic here. I basically tried to merge the fandoms, from the end of GO to the start of Season 7 of SPN, in And All The World's a Stage: tag on LJ (http://thinkatory.livejournal.com/tag/and%20all%20the%20world%27s%20a%20stage) and AO3 (http://archiveofourown.org/works/272838). I'm also working on a fic that shows Aziraphale's side of the story, so... yeah! I hope you like.

Our HDM forum, Bridge To The Stars, has quite a lot of fanart here (http://www.bridgetothestars.net/fanart/), which you can browse. We've also got our own Tumblr, although it's only new. I'll give you links to all the Lyra/Will art that we have there so far.

Here, with bonus Iorek and Gallivespians (http://republic-of-heaven.tumblr.com/post/13315509385). Here (http://republic-of-heaven.tumblr.com/post/13456159501). Here (http://republic-of-heaven.tumblr.com/post/13173221584). Here (http://republic-of-heaven.tumblr.com/post/13636682430), and the last one here (http://republic-of-heaven.tumblr.com/post/13548609314).

Unfortunately that's all we've got on Tumblr so far, but any budding HDM fanartists (or fans who work in other media) feel free to submit something (http://republic-of-heaven.tumblr.com/submit).

Does anyone have any recs for works - fic or canons - with asexual characters? Particularly where the ace is in a romantic relationship, either with another ace or a sexual person. I know there's some in the BBC Sherlock fandom, and I think Guardian of the Dead by Karen Healey is one of the only books I've ever read with an explicitly asexual character. So yeah, awesome asexual recs would be appreciated!

[identity profile] fm-gatekeeper.livejournal.com 2011-12-11 06:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I just read Deceitful Above All Things (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3605821/1/Deceitful_Above_All_Things) on FF.net the other day and really enjoyed it; note that it significantly predates Days so Roxas's characterization is slightly different.

Also seconding the recommendation for Casey V.'s fics, all them. She's my favorite writer in this fandom by a mile. If I were you I'd start with A Thought and a Shadow (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4389851/1/A_Thought_and_a_Shadow) or Naivety (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5286262/1/Naivety) as those are her main canon Axel/Roxas fics. Several of her AUs also feature Axel/Roxas as a primary pairing as well (Luma and Boys, which you can find on her FF.net page, are hands down my two favorite fics in this fandom, period).

And... oh gosh, I might be able to think of more if I check my bookmarks and old FF.net favorites. BUT, I have to run to the store, so I'll just leave this comment here for now.

I love Magic Knight Rayearth! And the ending has always made me happy. I may need to reread this one. (If I recall, the anime kills one of the guys off in the end, rather than the "he'll get better!" in the manga. It's been a few years, though.)

When it comes to asexual!Sherlock I have to say that [livejournal.com profile] disastrolabe's series is my all-time favorite things, and I have them all tagged at my Delicious here (http://delicious.com/likeabaroness/asexual%21sherlock).
