I certainly think there can (and should) be a happy medium, but the mods at scans_daily have drawn some pretty clear lines in the sand and it seems like no one can find the motivation to create another community. I've heard people talk about it, but it never seems to materialize. It's a shame because more options would certainly help, and I do feel bad for people who aren't comfortable in the majority of fan spaces but feel that the modship at scans_daily is too heavy handed.
