It's kind of a no win situation! If the OP brings it up the other person might comment so their friend doesnt feel bad but not because they really wanted to.

It's like the difference between someone giving you a birthday present because they like you and you telling someone if they don't give you a birthday present you're gonna be REALLY upset and btw did they know it was your birthday yesterday *hinthint*
