Re: (anon behind 24)

I non-secretly really hate very bad OOC slash that is just an alternative for canon pairings. If people can make a pairing work, I'm fully behind the idea. Really not just with slash. I actually like a lot of alternate pairings and crossover stuff, like I dig Rally Vincent and Jigen Daisuke a lot. A few people can even make some good OCs.

Unfortunately most people make Mary Sues that they try to convince themselves aren't Mary Sues and just torture the hell out of the lot of us and keep shoving their character possessively down our throats. As an artist, and as someone who's been run out of many a fandom by oh-my-god-I-made-a-character-he's-going-to-marry-mine-mine-mines, I get pretty goddamn frustrated with them.

I'm pretty much to the point now some shows/characters I refuse any involvement in the fandom for.

In short, even if someone didn't like slash, I would FAR prefer they did an odd non-canon pairing or dig out a character from another series that would fit them and go crossover before they would do super tacky sue. I mean, really, crossover pairings aren't that bad. Even if you argue, "Well these two series would never crossover-" the sue isn't going to get written in either. Might as well go the easy way and do crossovers if you don't dig canon and such and spend your creative energies on making OCs for your own independent purposes. People actually tend to like them better if you don't attach them to people.
