So I've noticed that in some fandoms a lot of fandoms, there's a bit of tension between gen fans versus people who prefer romance fic, and that second group is further divided into het vs. slash, and the slashers are even further divided into guy-slash vs. lady-slash... and I really don't get it. This whole thing seems to me like shipping wars taken to a different level, but it seems that the people who'll argue about this stuff are generally also the same people who think shipping wars are stupid.
And now I am wondering two things: 1) Is it weird that I find this confusing and kind of hypocritical, or am I missing something? 2) Are there any other fans who'll read pretty much anything as long as it's got a good plot, or is it just me? :(
