I once read an article talking about male dominated spaces having less SJW wank because they're the priveleged majority and either aren't aware of the issues or don't think they're really big issues in need of endless discussion. Whereas more female or minority dominated spaces tend to focus on this stuff because it's something they live with and is a very real topic.

I don't know how much I agreed with the article, but it was an interesting point of view.
