I'm still amazed that Rarity somehow became my favorite pony. At first glance, she's the girly-girl fashionista, a type of character that always scores at the bottom of my interest level, something completely opposite from me. But no, you're right--she's a pretty complex gal, and is foremost, an artist. And not just in a "The MUSE must inspire me!" silly Arteest with a capital A and a beret sort of way. She's a genuine professional artist, and her concerns are actual professional concerns (networking, pleasing clients, deadlines), and I adore that. I even relate to the kind of big sister she is ("Yes, I love you and want to spend time with you, but this is my space"), flaws and all.
