Re: What are the hot animation fandoms right now?

*can of worms*

My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic.

You're gonna have to do some spectacular internet pirouettes to avoid the crazies, though.

(you might have better luck in tumblr or individual blogs of sane people, where you can at least follow whomever you want, than in sites like Equestria Daily and ponychan, which are more popular/open to general audiences, so, uh, yeah...)

I suggest you avoid the fanfiction/shipping, though, unless you have some serious experience in dealing with fandom/oversaturation/self-control and such. A damn slippery-slope, that one, if I've ever seen one.

Adventure Time seems to have a nice following too, but while it does have on-going character arcs and such, it's not terribly heavy on the plot.

I think the new Transformers series has it's fans and discussions too? (Neoyi on deviantART makes some fairly good reviews and such; actually, check her deviantART, she makes good reviews of a few other animated series, just not very often.)

Also, the forums at Something Awful tend to have fairly intelligent discussions and good moderation, so even lurking is entertaining:

The bad news, though, it's that you can only post if you're registered and that costs 10 USD (a one-time purchase unless you do something terrible and get banned).

Sometimes they let non-registered people read through the threads, but right now they're not visible. (They tend to vary it up, sometimes they are open a few weeks in a row, sometimes a day, etc.)
