HAHAHA TOO LATE. Sorry, I just totally stan for Irene in basically every incarnation, especially the BBC version, and that rather amusingly alienates me from both hardcore stans and hardcore haters. But I'm pretty sure that's not all there is to his backstory--clearly he's fucked up over whatever happened with her, but there's definitely some other stuff in there, judging by his comments about his dad & the stuff about abuse victims. :\\\\\ (and I love it because I love angst whoops)
