I'm Australian. We do go to school in August so it didn't click that we don't have cheerleaders, and that the US isn't in school in August.
I think one thing about a 'joke' is that it has to be hmn, 'funny'? If you were saying 'it was a trolling attempt' then you'd be correct.
'better life'? This is why people are getting pissed off at you. I don't see why 'cheerleader, footballer boyfriend' equals 'better'. People have different aims in life, not everyone's into parties. And 'better' is subjective. I think it sounds like a horrible fictional life. But if fictional cheerleader is happy, whatever. I still would think she's a total fucking idiot, and needs to grow up. And apparently, so do you.
... not everyone in Fandom is *out* of highschool. So 'never gotten over highschool'? And those who are out of highschool, like me, still hate stuck up cows, because they sure do exist in real life as well.
And, if she were a real 15 or 16 year old girl, then it wouldn't have been too late for her.
