No one is forcing anyone to pay for an artist's work. If the commissioner loves the way an artist creates enough to pay for a unique piece, I don't see why you should care.

I think you missed the intent of the secret. it's not that artists are getting commissions but why are artists given the "get of jail free" card in regards to making money off of commissions for fandom and writers will get torn to shreds if they offer to write for commission.

it's a huge discrepancy in how artists and writers are treated. artists are lauded and given money to draw fanart, writers are shamed and treated like lepers when they offer to do the same, only written.
