And he didn't even die because the actor was leaving or they wanted to explore storylines without the character; it was purely for IMPACT in the finale, which in itself was a jerky mess of 'Joe dies! But a few years down the line, she finds out that he's alive! But at the end it was all a dream and he's dead anyway! But at the end of her life they're re-united! So nothing else matters!'

Huh, everything I've heard about so far has been about the spy angle. I think this is the first time I've seen someone talk about any romance. But I'll definitely take your word for it, anon.

That's easy! A season or two before the end, Ariel had a vision of her adulthood, in which Joe was still alive. Ergo, the finale was not canon. *sticks fingers firmly in ears*

I think it was one of his brothers' wands? Bill or Charlie's? I got the impression (maybe from the movies) that it was broken and had been badly repaired, so Ron got it while the older brother got a new one with money from his new job...?

Yeah, that always struck me as weird. I guess we're supposed to take it as Ollivander being kind of a weirdo even to wizards, or something, but... yeah, I don't know. I didn't get a lot of that from the book, though, again, it's all Harry's perspective.

I guess maybe there's more than one wand that can fit the wizard?

well, save the opaque thermos for a rainy day! it's gotten me through many a drawn-out art class. i am very obnoxious so i'd probably straight-up lay into his baby ass but in terms of avoiding conflict.... yikes.

you could try to get switched into a different group to lessen the brainhurt. you could also talk to the professor about how you think the classroom environment is too hostile, because it really is their job to at least somewhat mediate what's happening to facilitate discussion. i did that one time and the professor ended up asking me for advice on how to turn the situation around. it kind of worked. sort of. it's worth a shot!

Personally, I've been into Appleshy lately. Maybe in part because its so relatively hard to find.

I'd go ahead and catch up on everything BUT the finale. I wish I'd missed an episode or two along the way, so I could have something new to wash the taste of the finale out of my mouth.

Spartacus is a smallish fandom anyway, but Spartacus/Varro is practically nonexistent. :( I did a search for you but as expected, I didn't find much.

It's always been a bit shocking to me that the pairing wasn't more popular...but, you never know what's going to catch on. *shrugs* Plus, Spartacus himself has never been overtly popular with the fandom, so maybe that has to do with it. Sorry, anon!

I saw it as a kid. I was an absolute wreck over that scene, because I was too young to have consumed much media. The reason I bring it up is because I've been avoiding seeing it again - I thought I wouldn't be able to handle the scene.

Maybe I should watch it again with older eyes. It was a fairly good movie excepting that, right?

For me, it's more that I don't think it was necessary to introduce it as back story. But maybe the writers felt it was important...?

But yes, at least in the books, her relationship with Lupin seemed to come out of nowhere and should have been better explored if it was going to be included.

One of my main criticisms of SS/HG fans who wanted that ship to happen in canon (besides '...really?') is this; there's no way a quest-centric Harry POV could show the reader enough of the relationship to do them justice.

And IA. I'd give SO much for Ten and Donna to have had another season, even a shortened one. Having Donna get forced out just when she hit her peak was beyond cruel, and I think Ten's arc would've ended a lot more happily if she had stayed in the picture.

When people say misandry doesn't exist they mean it doesn't exist on an institutional level. They don't mean that there are no women who dislike men.

I heard the same, and got the sense that including the epilogue was basically a 'treat' to herself for finishing; hard to begrudge her that after an epic like HP, so I try to minimize my eye-rolling over 'Ron/Hermione and Harry/Ginny have lots of babies including ALBUS SEVERUS and also Malfoy got fat and ungly, THE END'.

I was always partial to Tonks/twins OT3.

Oh yeah. Even if I DO end up watching the show I highly doubt I'd ever get involved. And if I did it would probably just be to ship something completely contrary because I think it'd be fun.

I can't get tumblr savior to WORK... so I've just sort of learned to ignore it when it crosses my dash. Although I do occasionally roll my eyes so hard I hurt something at some of the comments I catch on the Teen Wolf stuff as I scroll past.

'THAT'S Tonks?' anon from below. I completely agree...which is why she kind of weirds me out mental-image wise. Tonks always struck me as a quirky-cute sort, and that actress just doesn't feel right. But mmv, of course.

I just ended up watching all of the episodes of "Elementary", and I'm curious where the epicenter of the fandom is. The tumblr tag seems to be entirely made up of people comparing it to BBC Sherlock. Yes, there are valid conversations to be had, but I kind of just want to talk about this show. Any good recs?

I liked that people had lives outside of Harry and the war and Hogwarts. There's only so much we can see of them if they're not in the immediate vicinity of the perspective character.

I love this show, everything about it is feel good. I'm not in my thirties but now no matter what anyone says I feel like it's not the end of the fucking world if I'm not in a relationship by then or life isn't going as planned, ect. Also, I'm a little plump and working on it I don't feel as sad.
