Ah, that makes more sense. I thought maybe you meant people bashed Spartacus or ignored him altogether, which I just can't wrap my head around because he's so awesome! I definitely get not writing him because he's too well-written/explored in canon (I've done that with various characters and pairings). I think it's hard to ship him with anyone because the show ships him so well with Sura that you just feel bad trying to put him with anyone else, which would result in the lack of fic.

See, that's one of the reasons I haven't sought out Season 2 yet. Andy!Spartacus was just so darn perfect that I'm not sure I want to see anyone else in the role, though I'm sure Liam is really, really good (though I hear they downsize his role in Season 2? Or so I heard?)

Well, it's good to see some canon couples getting some love, which is rare in fandom. Side characters tend to get lots of fic because it's easier to just make up fanon and headcanon about them. And canon slash is always a good hook for fic. Though I'm weird and just wanted a lot of Lucretia/Ilithyia frenemy!sex.
