Seems to me like it was implying that flowers formed from sun drops are a fairly well known myth in that universe along with the fact that they will heal. So when she got sick, they went out looking for a miracle, because that is what you do for your beloved queen I guess. They just got lucky that in this case myth turned out to be a little more truthful than normal.
