My advice is dig the music, get into the videos, find a fandom friend who either likes it already or you can easily entice them to get into it, then snark the fandom at large with them.

You don't want to get involved too deep. It's a fandom that skews very young and very bizarre. Tinhatting was the least of the craycray in the fandom, I found.
