This I understand from a fan's point of view, but not from the creator of a series. As long as people pay for/promote/fuel your creativity, you have little to no right to criticize. You should be thankful if anyone actually spent their time and money on your work in the first place, rather than try to nitpick your own fanbase. Variety is a part of fandom. And really, why does it matter? Your canon is still law. It always will be.
