As with a lot of "bad" fandoms, the fandom actually isn't too bad if you stay off the main thoroughfares and find your own circle of friends. I just block and TS anyone who insists that you're a vile racist if you picture Cecil as a white guy (seriously, "go kill yourself" is not a productive race dialogue), and my WTNV fandom experience is quite good.
