Are there any fictional works that you think are genuinely good, but which you still think are overrated by critics or fandom or society in general, because yeah, they're good, but they're not as perfect and flawless and superior and mindblowing as people make out?
For me, one example is Granada Sherlock Holmes. I love it, I think it's great, but I am sick of people holding it up as some kind of gold standard to measure all Holmes by, or some kind of flawless adaptation of purest ACD spirit. It's imperfect and does some things boringly or poorly and it's not basically canon. I still really enjoy and adore it, but I think it's unfortunately become overrated in fandom.
How about you guys? Any works that you feel this way towards?
Overrated but still good?
