Yup. I'm not even talking about getting out compasses, rulers, and reading contours either (although obviously you should be able to have at least a rough idea as to the cardinal directions, even if it is just "sun rises in the east and sets in the west"). I've seen folks struggle even with the map for the local zoo, and you can't get much more simple than that. If you can't even follow a map to find the monkey house, you might as well just climb in there with them when the guide finally shows you the way.
