You'll probably love it, then! The characters and their relationship are way more complicated than a lot of fanon makes them out to be, and what happens in the finale isn't actually Hannibal's end goal. The therapy setting gives their interactions this amazing intimacy and intensity from very early on, and Hannibal genuinely does love Will even as he causes him great harm in the process of trying to unleash what he sees as Will's potential, which can be hard to reconcile or to watch but is definitely there. Some things he does are pretty much marriage proposals in serial killer world, haha. There's a scene between them around the middle of the season that the AV Club said was way more romantic than the onscreen kiss with a canon romantic interest earlier in the episode. I shipped the canon at first but had to agree with that assessment later. The showrunner is gay himself and extremely friendly to slashers and fandom, so while he's promising us full sex or anything like that, he's not bothered by or dismissive of the idea at all. He retweets slashy fanart and replied "ikr" when he was tweeting about filming a sexy kiss between sexy characters who weren't Will and Hannibal and someone asked why not.
