Well, my impression is that while there are a lot of Phoenix/Edgeworth fangirls, there's been sort of a backlash against it, such that the fandom opinion is now "anyone who likes Phoenix/Edgeworth is an idiotic yaoi fangirl and all the sane, cool people 'ship alternative pairings." Which isn't to say there aren't still a lot of fanworks for it, just that there's a certain "brainless fangirl" stigma attached to it.

Then again, I'm not deeply into the PW fandom, so you can take all that with a grain of salt.
