Yes. The US starts out like the UK one but half way through the season they go their own way. For example, the American version of George, Josh, starts off George-ish but by the end of the season he has become the house's mother figure and is more like Annie than George. The American version of Annie, Sally, starts off like Annie but at the end, she's is not one bit the mother figure Annie is but is like the house's little sister who loves to hang out with her "brothers" watch sci-fi/horror movies and talk just as raunchy as them. The American version of Mitchel is Aidan, and while he started off as Mitchell, he has become the house's father figure and is more of a psychopath that can hide in plain sight.
The US version really plays up on the supernatural genre. Going to places the UK never did. (The third season has zombies!) If you are a horror-comedy fan, watch it. Allow the show to kick in half way through the first season (that would be when Josh returns home to his parent's house.)
